How to Use Colored Pencils Over Ohuhu Markers for Extra Detail

@cozy_colour I tried layering colored pencils on top of Ohuhu Markers to add details and shading. It's a really easy way to give your cozy coloring page some extra depth without being too scary! If you’ve ever felt nervous about adding details to your coloring pages, colored pencils might be your new best friend! I recently tried using them over the top of my Ohuhu markers, and I absolutely love the effect.

This simple technique helps create texture, depth, and highlights—and it’s much less intimidating than using pens for fine details.

Why Use Colored Pencils Over Markers?

✔️ Adds Depth & Texture – Pencils can create subtle shading, fine lines, and soft textures that blend beautifully over markers.
✔️ Less Risky than Pens – If you’re hesitant about adding details with fine liners or gel pens, pencils give you more control.
✔️ Works with Special Effects – Metallic pencils, like the one I used on the bear, add an extra dimension that looks amazing in real life!

How to Layer Colored Pencils Over Markers

  • Lay Down Your Base with Ohuhu Markers
Start by coloring your page as usual with alcohol markers.
  • Use Colored Pencils for Detail & Texture
Lightly layer pencils over the marker base to enhance shading, fur, wood grain, or other textures.
  • Add Metallic or White Highlights
A metallic pencil can add shimmer, while a white pencil is perfect for soft highlights without the harshness of a gel pen.
  • Blend & Build Up Layers
Work in soft layers and blend with light pressure to keep everything smooth.
