Simple Cozy Coloring Tutorial: Kitchen Scene from Girl Moments

Coloring cozy, detailed scenes is my favorite way to relax, and this kitchen page from Girl Moments by Coco Wyo was no exception!

I colored this page using my Ohuhu alcohol markers and followed a three-stage process to keep it simple and stress-free. It took me two days to complete because I like to take breaks between steps - but I love how it turned out!

If you want to try this method, here’s how I colored the kitchen scene step by step.

3 Easy Steps for Coloring a Kitchen Scene

1. Lay Down Base Colors

Start by filling in the main areas of your design with the lightest tones. Using a color palette helps ensure that your colors work well together. At this stage, don’t worry about details—just get the base colors down!

2. Add Texture, Detail & Patterns

Once the base is dry, use your darker tones to add texture and detail. This includes patterns on objects like tiles or fabric and subtle shading for depth. If you're using a color palette like me, think carefully about color balance and placement to keep everything visually harmonious.

3. Enhance with Shadows & Highlights

The final step is where the magic happens! Add shadows in the corners and behind objects to create dimension. Then, finish with white highlights to make certain areas pop and bring the whole scene to life.

Why This Method Works

By breaking the process into stages, you can take your time and avoid feeling overwhelmed—especially with detailed scenes like this one. Plus, layering colors this way helps you achieve a polished, professional finish with your Ohuhu markers.
