I recently got my hands on the Castle Arts Metallic Pencils, and I couldn’t wait to try them out! The box felt super heavy, and the pencils come in a beautiful matte tin case - such a lovely presentation. But the real question is, how do they perform? Let’s take a closer look!
First Impressions
📦 The set comes in a sturdy tin case, making it great for storage.
📖 Inside, there’s a color chart, swatch card, and step-by-step instructions (including a tiger drawing guide).
🎨 The pencils themselves feel high-quality, with a smooth application and a beautiful metallic sheen.
Testing the Pencils
I swatched the colors first (because who doesn’t love filling in a swatch card? 😍), and the metallic effect was so subtle yet stunning.
The rose gold and silver shades were my favorites—they catch the light beautifully!
When adding detail and shading to my coloring page, I found that these pencils:
✔️ Blend easily over other colors.
✔️ Layer well without feeling waxy or streaky.
✔️ Create a soft shimmer that adds depth and dimension.
While it’s hard to capture their true shine on camera, I can confirm that in real life, they improve any coloring project with a soft, elegant glow.
Final Thoughts – Are They Worth It?
If you love adding extra depth and subtle shimmer to your artwork, I’d definitely recommend these pencils.
They’re smooth, blendable, and layer beautifully over both marker and pencil work. Plus, the tin makes them feel extra special!
